Laugh Out Loud this Friday with The Unbound Sketchbook!

The Unbound Sketchbook is back on the road and a few remaining tickets are still available!

They’re appearing at the Players Theatre, Thame this Friday 8th April with a brand-new plethora of pages from their mighty book of sketches, blending witty wordplay with rib-tickling physical comedy and mirthful music. During this hilarious evening, you’ll witness what happens when you challenge Death to a game of chess, meet the world’s latest comedy double-act Pasties & Cake and find out why you really should Mind the Gap on the London Underground.

Along the way there’ll be a trip to a Creation Focus Group, an unsettling exploration of what happens when the rules of fishing are applied to land animals, and a toe-tapping job interview with a barbershop quartet.

“We’re delighted to be bringing the Sketchbook team back out and about this year,” says the show’s producer and co-writer Dario Knight. “It’s been a long wait to get on the road again but we can’t wait to meet new audiences with this laugh-out-loud sketch show.”

Spanning a variety of comedic styles, the team’s sketches explore everything from the beauty and hilarity of everyday life, to surreal takes on familiar situations, and even a bit of moral philosophy. More than anything, it’s a night to celebrate being able to laugh together again. Come and shrug off your troubles for an hour so, and leave feeling a little more light-hearted (and probably humming the Barbershop Coffee Shop song…).

The Unbound Sketchbook have six shows of original material to their name, plus two tours and their own podcast. They have received great acclaim on the touring circuit and their latest tour is something very special indeed.

The Sketchbook are part of Unbound Theatre, the award-winning resident storytelling company at Queens Park Arts Centre in Aylesbury. Since launching in 2014, Unbound have worked on more than 100 theatre, film, and audio projects spanning new writing, contemporary plays, Shakespeare, pantomime, rehearsed readings, improvisation and audio drama.

The Unbound Sketchbook is the perfect evening out for comedy fans.

Hello Readers, Welcome to the April 2024 Issue of Look Local Magazine. Spring has officially sprung, the daffodils are blooming in abundance and lighter evenings are here once again. I am really looking forward to getting out and about around the local area with the kids this Easter holidays. First up we plan to take a trip to Oxford on the bus to explore the Natural History Museum which is FREE to enter. Throughout the Easter holidays you can take part in an eggciting family trail. Eggsplore the Eggstraordinary Easter Family Trail around the museum to find all the hidden eggswhilst discovering fun natural history facts and themed specimens! The museum also hosts Science Saturdays where you have the opportunity to dive into the ocean world with themed crafts and ‘meet the scientists’ sessions. Waddesdon Manor’s annual Easter Adventure is on until 14th April and Waterperry Gardens are hosting a Hunt around the ornamental gardens. It costs £3.95 per child with a prize - check out their website for more info. There are lots of other cute little Easter trails taking place locally that I have seen pop up on Social Media - keep a eye out on our Facebook & Insta Pages as I will share any that I see. For any little train enthusiasts, Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railways, ‘Kids travel for a quid’ initiative is back! See more information about this and their other upcoming events on page 15. And for those who have work commitments during the Easter Holidays and are looking to book your little people into some enjoyable clubs, I came across a brand new one that’s coming to Thame and Haddenham called The Outdoors Project (www.theoutdoorsproject.co.uk/aylesbury-thame/). They provide 100% outdoor adventures for years 1 to 6, which run throughout the Easter and Summer holidays. There’s also two competitions to enjoy this month, our regular Thame Players Theatre competition is on page 19 and there also a chance to win tickets to this year Abingdon Air & Country Show on page 14.
