Your train will be hauled alternately by a vintage diesel and then a steam locomotive on Sunday 25 August or on Bank Holiday Monday 26 August.

Enjoy a selection of Cask Ales, Craft Beers & Local Beers whilst travelling in reserved seats on your choice of train service departing Chinnor at either Midday (12.05) or Mid-afternoon (14.45). Our volunteer stewards will be delighted to welcome you onboard and serve your first Pint of Ale or Beer which is included with your ticket. Then sit back, relax and hear the vintage diesel growl on the first round-trip of the line and watch the steam lazily curl past your window on the second return trip, as the lovely views gradually open out to reveal the Vale of Aylesbury and Whiteleaf Cross in the distance.

I hope you all had a wonderful summer, filled with special moments with your children, friends, and family.There are plenty of exciting events happening at the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway in the coming months, including “Kids Travel for a Quid,” the Steam Gala and Teddy Bear Day to name but a few. This month also marks the return of the ever-popular Thame Food Festival. Tickets are still available online through their website. For more details on these events, check out pages 14 - 17.I also want to mention two charity events that are coming up this month and early October. The 7th September sees the return of the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People free Plant, Cake & Dog Show. Dog agility and a fun dog show, not to mention delicious homemade cakes and plants, will be just some of the attractions taking place at the southern training centre in Saunderton (HP27 9NS). Visitors are welcome to bring their dogs along, provided they are kept on a lead and cleaned up after. Dogs can even be entered into the fun dog show, with prizes like “waggiest tail.” Attendees will also see the charity’s hearing dogs showcase their skills. The legendary sales, which are organised and run by long-standing Hearing Dogs volunteers, Fiona and Rob Daniels, have grown from very humble beginnings into one of the most popular fixtures in the Hearing Dogs calendar. In fact, since they began in 2020, the team has raised a staggering £80,000.And if you’re looking to challenge yourself then why not sign up for the Sue Ryder Starlight Hike Thames Valley which takes place on Saturday, 5th October. Walk 10k under the stars at Mapledurham Estate in memory of a loved one while raising funds to support those facing the end of life or grief. Supported by Azaego and Gravity Personnel, the event includes warm-up entertainment and live music. Finishers will receive a medal and the satisfaction of making a difference. The funds raised will help ensure no one faces death or grief alone.
