An unmissable exhibition for fans of Midsomer Murders, the popular ITV series, will open at Thame Museum on Friday 19th June for 10 weeks. Thame is one of the most filmed locations in the fictional Midsomer County and this exhibition will feature many of the 23 Thame venues used as filming locations in the series. Entry is free.

Visitors to the exhibition will learn about the history of Midsomer Murders and how it began in 1997; many of the 23 filming locations that can be found in Thame; the main actors who have appeared in 140 episodes to date; and some of the bizarre ways in which people have been murdered.

You’ll also have an opportunity to take a selfie with a life-size cut-out of the current DCI Barnaby, Neil Dudgeon!  When you visit the museum shop at the end of the exhibition, you can choose from a range of Midsomer Murders merchandise, including t-shirts, tea towels, mugs, pens, and a book, A Midsomer Day Out, which guides you round all the filming locations in Thame and nearby villages.

If you want to make the most of your Midsomer adventure, why not take a guided walking tour with Midsomer Tours of Thame?  The tours are held twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2 pm, starting from the Town Hall. One of seven knowledgeable guides will tell you about the 23 locations – including Thame Town Hall (aka Causton Town Hall), Thame Museum, and the Prebendal, home to the late Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees, who is commemorated in the Robin Gibb Gallery at the museum. You will also learn fascinating snippets about Thame’s history, from its Neanderthal remains up until the present day.

The tours are very popular and around 3,000 Midsomer fans and tourists from the UK and from around the world have now taken the Midsomer Walking Tour since the tours began eight years ago.

So, during the summer, why not take up this fantastic opportunity to view the Making of Midsomer Murders exhibition at Thame Museum, and complete your visit by taking a Midsomer Guided Walking Tour of Thame?  It’s a treat for Midsomer fans and visitors to the historic town of Thame alike!

We are grateful for the generous support of Bentley Productions in putting on this exhibition!
