GET THE LOOK: New looks for the New Year with Coulon Stone…

It’s that time of year again to look at upcoming kitchen trends. At Coulon Stone we’ve found more of you than ever have used this year of on-and-off lockdowns to make changes and upgrades to your home, and kitchen’s in particular have been a popular space for renovations. Here are three of our favourite kitchen design trends for 2021.

Matte Natural Surfaces
In 2021 we will see more than ever people surround themselves by nature including filling their homes with earthy materials, plants and natural surfaces. Natural stones like granite and slate will continue to be used in our kitchens, however opt for more of a matte finish rather than the traditional shiny surface, mimicking a straight from the earth feel. This reflects other home décor trends for example using jute, linens, organic cotton, hemp and bamboo, along with colours like terracotta, mustard and dark greens.

Open Shelving for a Curated Kitchen
With a rise in the use of social media and sites like Pinterest being used as a home design tool, along with high street brands like H&M and Zara making beautiful home décor pieces more accessible, more of us have developed an interest in design and home styling. This is reflected in our growing use of open shelving and glass cabinetry making our kitchens beautifully curated design spaces, as well as practical. Why not add open shelves to your kitchen made from the same stone you’ve used as your kitchen worktop and splashback. This will create a completed look to your space as well as create opportunity to display beautiful pieces of crockery and glassware.

Dramatic Marbles
Marble has been a popular interior choice for many years. However 2021 will see an increase in more unusual and dramatic marbles being used in our kitchens, the busier the stone the better. Some of our favourite more dramatic and unusual marbles include Verde Guatemala, an earthy dark green marble with grey and white veins, and Calcutta, a glassy white marble with scorings of deep, dark grey.

Hello Readers,𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗲.Spring has finally sprung and summer fayres and festival season will soon be upon us. So, I’m excited to let you all know that Beacons Festival returns in June and we have 𝗧𝗪𝗢 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗘𝗧𝗦 to give away. Turn to page 16 for more information about this years Summer Solstice festival and how you can enter the competition. And for theatre goers, we have our regular 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 on page 14. There’s still time to get tickets to this months Abingdon Air & Country Show - turn to page 15 - and congratulations to our five lucky competition winners from our April competition! I know you’ll enjoy a fabulous day out! Another fun-filled family day out returning on 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 is SydenhamFayre. The long-established event, co-ordinated and run entirely by villagers, raises funds for local groups and causes, supporting schools, community organisations and facilities in the surrounding area. Last year it raised over £9,000 for local causes. The Fayre centres around the picturesque village green from 12:30pm - 4:00pm and this year visitors can enjoy live entertainment, children’s games, a dog show, vintage cars, a BBQ, the tearoom and a huge variety of stalls selling quality gifts and goodies from local producers, plus there’ll be the ever-popular Bottle Tombola, Coconut Shy, Plate Smash, Plant Sale, Bric-A-Brac, Jewellery, Vintage Clothing and Tarot reader. Something else I wanted to draw attention to, after receiving a Press Release from Local home care company, Home Instead (Witney). They recently commissioned a survey of family carers and found 29% of them in Oxfordshire are at breaking point due to feeling highly stressed and isolated. It also concluded that a concerning 64% of them are neglecting their own health and well-being. As a company that supports older people in their own homes, Home Instead sees countless families in a desperate state as they seek to give their loved one the best life possible. If you are one of these people I urge you to reach out to them, or similar local organisations, to help you lighten the load. The full press release can be found on my website (here: https://shorturl.at/glvRX) along with contact information and tips that may help you and your loved ones. Until next month, enjoy reading...𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: https://look-localmagazine.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/MAY24_Issue138_28pg_WEB.pdf....#whatsgoingoninoxfordshire #looklocalmagazine #advertiselocal #supportsmallbusinessess #smallbusinesssupport #looklocal #smallbusinessesinoxfordshire #looklocalmagazineoxfordshire #localmagazineoxfordshire #oxfordshiremagazine #localmagazine #supportlocalbusiness #supportlocalbusinesses #supportlocal ...
