Thame has a variety of fantastic opportunities for budding musicians who wish to join together with other like-minded people. From bands to choirs to bell ringing! We also host a huge variety of annual musical events.
Beacon Festival 2019
The Beacon Festival is a Music festival based in Oxfordshire (Watlington). This family friendly event provides a whole array of fantastic musical acts along with plenty of fun activities, stalls, food and drink. Very much aimed at children and adults alike, tickets for children are FREE (u16) so it is great value for a family.
The festival celebrates real ale, music, workshops and plenty to do for the kids. Some of the fantastic musical artists who will be performing include; Van Susans, 2 Strokes, Dury Service, Guns or Roses, Elemental Joe, Rock Choir, Tankus The Henge, Halvar, The Vibe and many many more! The festival also includes a Teen Stage to show off up and coming musical talent from young people in the area and The Hilltop Stage which focuses on acoustic acts and bands.
The festival will be taking place on Friday 21st June and Saturday 22nd June 2019. Adult weekend tickets are priced at £45.00 each, day tickets are £20.00 for Friday and £30.00 for Saturday. They also offer camping for the whole family for just £20.00 (camping tickets for 2 adults and 2 children). Beacon is a full festival experience just on a scale to suit the average person! The best views over Oxfordshire can be seen as the sun sets behind the main stages and of course the beacon will be lit!

Sunfest – Ickford’s Own Music Festival!
This year The Rising Sun pub in Ickford along with Simon Markland from Thame Music Academy are proud to announce that Sunfest 2019 will be taking place on Saturday 29th June!
Now in it’s third year this fantastic family friendly mini music festival has grown from strength to strength and is a fantastic day out for everyone! The main event takes place in the fantastic large beer garden at the rear of the pub with a marquee for live performances, a sheltered area for children and adults to get out of the sun, an array of play equipment and playground and a fantastic selection of food and drink available at the outside bar! Entry to the festival is free.

This year the live music will be kicking off from 1:00pm with a whole host of wonderful performances from local acoustic guitarists/singers/duos taking us all the way to 7:00pm. During the evening there will be two bands performing late into the evening! The James Figgs – This lively pub in the centre of Thame will be hosts regular live music every 1st or 2nd Saturday of the month, search ‘James Figg Thame’ via Facebook for further information.
‘The Listening Room – Upstairs At The Keys’
The Listening Room Upstairs at the Keys is on the third Friday of each month and will feature two artists in an intimate acoustic setting. Entry is FREE.
‘The First Thursday Music Club’ – Takes place on the first Thursday of every month at The James Figg pub, Thame. Come along early to this popular monthly event to book into a slot or just to enjoy the wonderful live music on offer! Check out their Facebook page for further info. ‘Friday At The Fish’ – Takes place every 2nd Friday of the month at The Old Fisherman, Shabbington. Check out their Facebook page for more info or just come along to play! The event runs from 7:30pm – 11:00pm.
‘Unplugged At The Keys’ – This fantastic music event is open to everyone who likes to strum, sing, play a beat or just enjoy a relaxing musical afternoon! The event takes place every final Saturday of the month, upstairs at The Cross Keys pub in Thame from 3:00pm – 6:00pm. This is a unique opportunity to jam with fellow musicians covering a huge variety of songs, whilst enjoying the hospitality of the award-winning pub!
