RESTAURANT REVIEW: No10 Restaurant at Princes Risborough Golf Course –


Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Chiltern countryside lays Princes Risborough Golf Course (PRGC) which, as well as being located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, boasts gentle undulating slopes across its 9-hole championship course, plush greens, stunning lakes and top quality sanded bunkers.

PRGC prides itself on being an integral part of the local community and welcomes members of the public and members of the Golf Club itself to use the various facilities within its extensive grounds. It has made a name for itself as a destination venue for all year round Golf, and welcomes members along with many green fee paying guests and societies. The superb No10 Restaurant is unique in the area and a wonderful gastronomic experience for those who love great value beautifully prepared and served food. You can also enjoy afternoon tea/all day coffee and cake at T’s & C’s Café and relaxing drinks throughout the day and evening in the Tapp Inn Bar (a welcoming bar with beautiful views).

There is ample free car parking (80 plus spaces) and the facilities are well designed and very comfortable. T’s & C’s Café is a friendly and comfortable lounge serving hot & cold refreshments and snacks, including sandwiches, panini’s and baguettes, throughout the day, 7 days a week. This area of the main building provides members of the public with a place to enjoy an informal lunch date or drink whilst soaking up the spectacular panoramic views across the course from the floor to ceiling windows, which stretch the whole length of the room. In the summertime the patio is the place to be. Club members can take advantage of their own luxurious area to sit and eat & drink inside or outside on the patio.

Also look out for offers from the Tapp Inn Bar – they serve wonderful Prosecco and Champagne. I have seen them regularly offer Prosecco normally priced at £20 plus per bottle at only £15. To drink Prosecco in a lovely friendly bar with such welcoming staff and stunning views at this price is truly outstanding value.


For those who are looking for a more formal, sit-down lunch or evening meal you should definitely visit the No10 Restaurant, a jewel in this fantastic venues crown. My colleague (Mike) and I where recently invited to sample the delights of their extensive selection of Continental and modern English cuisine, headed up by well-known local French Restaurateur Christian Wioland (proprietor of many local eateries when they were at their peak including, The Chequers in Western Turville, The 3 Crowns in Askett and The Stag in Mentmore).. It is clear that food is the passion of Christian, Mark and the team as the menu features a choice of mouth watering starters, mains and desserts using different ingredients from all over the world yet sourced locally and lovingly prepared fresh for customers each day. Diners can choose from the A La Carte Menu where meal options include Starters such as Escargots a la Bourguignon, Avocado Pear with Mozzarella and Chicken Liver Parfait to Main Courses of Roast Saddle of Venison, Fillet of Pork Medallions with a Madeira & Cream Sauce and Fresh Fish of the Day, to name but a few. Or there is the incredibly tasty Two-Course Set Menu, which at only £13.50 is fantastic value for money as the quality of the food is simply divine. We opted for ‘Deep Fried Whitebait with Aioli Dip’ and ‘Linguini Pasta with a Smoked Salmon and Cream Sauce’ to start followed by Mike’s choice of ‘Fresh Loin of Hake Fillet with Crushed Potatoes, Petite Ratatouille and Pesto’ for his Main Course. I opted for the chef’s recommendation of ‘Traditional French Boeuf Bourguignon with Creamed Potato and seasonal vegetables’ and I am glad I did as the beef was “melt in the mouth” and the sauce was wonderfully rich and flavorsome without being over powering. I had worried that my pasta starter might have been too heavy as a pre-course and spoil my appetite for the main but the chefs clearly have an eye for portion size to ensure this doesn’t happen. It really warmed up my taste buds (and belly) ready for the next tantalising course.

If the choices on the A La Carte or Set-Course Menus aren’t enough to whet your appetite then why not pop along on one of No.10’s special food evenings. They have Steak Night on Thursdays, Fish Night on Fridays and a Traditional Roast offering on a Sunday as well as a number of fun, themed events including Jazz Nights, Quiz Nights, Charity events etc. Exciting forthcoming events to look out for are the Valentine Weekend events (including Vintage Jazz with Kitty), an Auction Evening with BBC Antiques Roadshow regular John Bligh. St Georges Day etc. Christian puts together dedicated menus for special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter and Father’s Day to supplement the ever present and great value al a carte menu.

And if the above isn’t enough, PRGC and No 10 Restaurant offer the perfect setting for private functions, including wedding receptions, birthday parties, wakes, anniversary dinners, christenings, presentation dinners, business meeting/conferences and other special occasions.

It really does have it all, so if you haven’t visited yet, why not! It hits your taste buds rather than your wallet – great value! We would thoroughly recommend it.
