On Sunday 20th March, Rennie Grove Hospice Care is encouraging people of all abilities to strap on their cycle helmets and join the charity for its annual sponsored cycle ride through the beautiful scenery of the Chiltern Hills.
The popular Chilterns Cycle Challenge offers participants a choice of 10k, 35 mile or 75 mile routes in order to find their perfect pedalling challenge, with all routes to start and finish in Aylesbury town centre.
Online registration is now open and the event promises to be a fabulous day for novice and experienced cyclists of all ages. Families are warmly welcomed and there is a special Family Entry offer of £47 for a family of four for the 10k route only. The 10k ride is perfect for a family wanting to enjoy a day out with young children, as it makes use of the Gemstone cycle ways around Aylesbury, going through Watermead and Fairford Leys.
Last year, more than 500 people pedalled through the Chiltern Hills and around the cycle paths, together raising over £30,000 in sponsorship. It is hoped that the 2016 challenge will raise even more to help care for the increasing number of local people with cancer or other life-limiting illness who need Rennie Grove’s services.
Gillian Barnett, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at Rennie Grove Hospice Care said: “The Chilterns Cycle Challenge is a well-loved event. Much of its popularity is down to the fact that there’s a choice of three fantastic routes, so there’s something to suit everyone.”
