Recently re-opened pub, hosts week-long ‘Gin-Fest’ from 7th – 15th July offering an international range of gins, gin-inspired menu & gin flights.
Gin will be the ‘drink du jour’ at The Crown Inn, Sydenham from Friday 7th until Saturday 15th July, as an international ‘Gin-Fest’ takes residence, with over 25 different varieties of the popular spirit to try…
Featuring gins from across the globe – including a Columbian chocolate gin, a botanical gin from Northern Canada, a Yorkshire tea-infused gin and even a tipple crowned ‘World’s Best Gin’ produced on the Cornish coastline…there’ll be plenty of choice for all palates.
A special set 4-course ‘Gin-Inspired’ Menu will also be on offer EVERY DAY throughout the festival, with dishes including home gin-cured salmon with a cucumber & dill salad and juniper & rosemary encrusted lamb rump with buttered baby garden vegetables & a red wine jus, followed by a lime posset with gin macerated strawberries. Each dish will also be accompanied by a ‘gin-flight’ of a hand-selected gin & mixer to enhance the flavours, and costs £44.95pp.
On Thursday 13th July The Crown Inn will be also be hosting a ‘Gin-Tasting Experience’ with the opportunity to try a host of different gins, learn more about the spirit and also receive a masterclass from local distiller Alex Griffith’s from ‘Griffiths Brother’s Gin’ – tickets cost £20pp & include nibbles & plenty of gin!
New management couple Will & Pippa struck upon the idea for a ‘Gin-Fest’ after a surge in popularity having introduced a number of new brands onto their menu;
Landlady Pippa, explained,
“Gin is certainly the current drink of choice, and we enjoy being able to offer a wide selection of G&T’s on our bar. We work with many local distillers, who produce some amazing blends, but as well as showcasing these brands, we want our guests to have the opportunity to try other gins from across the globe…and with 25+ to test, we’re excited to see everyone’s favourites!”
The popular community pub, located just 3 miles from Thame & Chinnor, has been revived since the team took over in October 2016, having been limited to a drinking establishment for the last few of years.
The kitchen is once again in full swing with lunch & dinner being served daily (Tuesday to Saturday) as well as a delicious roast selection offered each Sunday – all produced by ex-Savoy trained head chef Will.
The monthly changing seasonal menu sits alongside local draft & guest ales (including Rebellion, XT & Loddon) and has a pudding selection to satisfy even the sweetest tooth…which has been received with so much acclaim, the pub secured a spot on BBC South in December 2016 applauding its delicious ingenuity.
