The Crown Inn, Sydenham – welcoming weary walkers with a treat for tired toes….

The Crown Inn, Sydenham, Oxfordshire

Recently re-opened pub, part of the Chiltern ANOB Walking Festival, is offering slippers to walking groups.

image1Located in the heart of the Chilterns walking trails, The Crown Inn – Sydenham is proving even more of a popular destination for its walking group clientele by now offering a pair of take-home spa slippers for each of its muddy-booted diners.

New management couple Will & Pippa struck upon the unique service after a number of ‘walk-in’ guests expressed concern over getting mud on the new carpets. The recently re-opened pub, which has been refurbished throughout, regularly hosts large walking groups, and will continue to do so as part of the Chiltern ANOB Walking Festival, taking place in until May 29th 2017.

Landlady Pippa, explained,

“As your traditional country pub, we’ll always be welcoming to muddy boots (and paws), but saw the slippers as a way to alleviate ‘walker guilt’ about bringing the outside inside. Everyone has loved the opportunity to pop a pair of slippers after a long trek, and it leaves them free to move about the pub whilst their boots dry by the fire.”

The popular community pub, located just 3 miles from Thame & Chinnor, has been revived since the team took over in October 2016, having been limited to a drinking establishment for the last few of years.

The kitchen is once again in full swing with lunch & dinner being served daily (Tuesday to Saturday) as well as a delicious roast selection offered each Sunday – all produced by ex-Savoy trained head chef Will.

The monthly changing seasonal menu sits alongside local draft & guest ales (including Rebellion, XT & Loddon) and has a pudding selection to satisfy even the sweetest tooth…which has been received with so much acclaim, the pub secured a spot on BBC South in December 2016 applauding its delicious ingenuity.
