From bouncy castles & dogs shows to a beer fest and cakes galore, there’ll be plenty of family friendly fun taking place at the annual village event…
Sydenham village will be welcoming visitors from far & wide this summer, as it hosts the ‘Sydenham Village Fayre’ on Saturday 2nd June between 12.30pm – 4pm.
The annual event, coordinated and run entirely by villagers, raises funds for local groups and causes, supporting schools, community organisations and facilities in the surrounding area.
This year’s packed programme is bigger & better than ever, featuring an endless array of exciting shows & activities, and will be opened by BBC News Presenter, Fiona Bruce.
Tea Rooms & Bake Off: A sumptuous spread of tea & cakes will be available from the ‘Old School Room’ village hall throughout the day, PLUS Sydenham’s own WI will be overseeing the first Sydenham Bake Off –check out the village’s expert bakers! Judging takes place at 2.30pm and there’ll be an opportunity to buy a slice of your favourite once the winner has been announced!
Live Music will be taking place all day, including performances from the ‘Syd’ band.
A new feature for 2018 will be the ‘Sydenham Car Show’, a collection of special, vintage and envy-inducing automobiles to be explored and admired, PLUS be sure to bring along your pampered pooches to compete in the annual Dog Show, as clever canines perform some impressive tricks & compete for the coveted titles of ‘Best Fancy Dress’ and ‘Sydenham Supreme’. Dog Show classes commence from 1pm.
Kid’s will be kept entertained in the ‘Kid’s Corner’ with entertainment from the magical Mr Marvel, as well as an inflatable assault course, and pole joust, as well as an exciting Zorbing experience on the village playing fields.
Traditional refreshments will be available including a BBQ hosted by Sydenham’s own Cricket Team, ice creams & popcorn, as well as the ‘Pimm’s Tent’ and a ‘Gin Tent’ – new this year!
The Crown Inn, located in the centre of the village, will be hosting a bar on the village green during the village fayre, as well as its own ‘Beer Fest’ in the pub garden all day from 12noon to late, featuring 12+ local beers and ciders including Rebellion, XT, Tring, Windsor & Eton & Hitchcox Cider. Delicious pulled pork baps will be available throughout the day, and live music from 6pm means the fun will continue late into the evening….
Local producers will be bringing along a great selection of gifts and goodies for all price points, plus there’ll be the ever popular Bottle Tombola, Coconut Shy, Plate Smash Plant Sale, Bric-A-Brac and 2nd Hand Book Stall.
The day’s finale – Tug of War – will take place on the village green at 3.30pm followed by the drawing of the Raffle at 3.45pm – tickets are now available from both The Crown Inn & Inn at Emmington.
Whilst the road through the village will be closed for the day, extensive free parking will be available on the edge of the village, which can be accessed from the B4009 from Chinnor, by turning left at The Inn at Emmington.
